WEST SOUND TECHNICAL SKILLS CENTER
Lasting Impact
Here at Be Prepped we believe that Accounting and Bookkeeping should be implemented early on into our Childrens lives.

As early as eight years old. In the third grade your child should understand how to spend $5.00 at a corner store. By 13 years old your child should know what the current minimum wage is and the value of one hour of labor. At 15 years old your child should be reviewing monthly bill statements with you. In particular, your car insurance, monthly car payment and the cost for gas. At 17 years old your child should understand bi weekly paydays and at a minimum 3 reoccurring bills: his or her rent*, their cell phone bill* and their percentage of transportation costs* using a prepaid, co-signed credit card with a max limit of no more than $300.00. By 18, your youth will have been successfully inducted into adulthood that they should have learned valuable and transferable bite-size lessons in money management.
The interesting thing about money management , or the lack of it. We can guide a successful youth to graduate , go to college and to achieve fairly decent jobs. All in the hopes that are likely to experience less financial trauma during their adult life.
Even then - they can do all the 'right' things and still end up with debt up to their ears
especially if they truly do not understand the cause and affects of poor money management.
We implore that more students learn technical skills such as Bookkeeping, Tax preparation, Payroll and Auditing skills. The more we drive our youth towards Accounting and Financial careers. The likelier we are to see them thrive as individuals, partners, parents and eventually caretakers. Once more, if we nurture our children and youths concept of money and rid of the old sang ' money doesn't buy happiness' we propose more young adults will associate money with happiness minus the derogatory inflammation the two cause one another.
Money, honorably earned, well spent , smartly saved and invested - can to the contrary, contribute to a happy, healthy lifestyle that promotes generational success and wealth.

While this is not legally binding financial advice it is something we ourselves do for our own youth. That being said, this is what we would do in preparation of our children maturing through life's stages. It's something we share knowing many friends and like-minded people often wonder ' would their lives have been easier' if they had understood debt to income ratio, safe credit building techniques, understand basic investment securities and most importantly how to manage their taxes. These topics should happen before your youth turns 18 years old.

What do you do when suddenly your job falls through,
your spouse moves out, the main bread earner becomes ill or injured,
or you become pregnant at a complicated time in your life.

Suddenly you are on Welfare.

Maybe this is a first, maybe this is a repeat experience.
All you know is a few hundred dollars a month in cash assistance won't pay the bills.
And as comforting as it is to have SNAP.

Creating a plan is very personal. It takes honesty and integrity and commitment.
But we know with the right support you can overcome any situation.

That is where Be Prepped with the A.M Method comes in handy.
